Confucius quote: Confucius he say “to know what we know and know what we do not know is wisdom”.

Almost two and a half thousand years later Donald Rumsfeld said “there are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don’t know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don’t know we don’t know” Obviously Rumsfeld still has much to learn!

Confucius the Chinese philosopher and thinker, who lived from 551BC to 479BC, has long been a symbol of wisdom on matters of personal morality, social relations and justice. As a serious thinker it’s possible that Confucius may not have approved of the humour or double entendres that have been attributed to him over the years. On the other hand, given that much of his philosophy appears to have been written with a certain ‘twinkle in the eye’ it’s entirely conceivable that he would have enjoyed much of this; and there are countless examples of Confucius jokes.
